Geography was my worst subject, I only did it for a year and dropped it as soon as I could. I learned nothing in that class. But I could probably still accurately label most countries on the map except for Africa, Norway/sweeden/finland and some former USSR countries. But even with the ones I get wrong i'd at least know the general area.

I dont think the US education sytem is the problem, I think the problem is the culture there that the US is the most important thing in the wrold. I didn't learn about other countries in school, but other countries come up in every day life so you gradually learn them anyway. It's not okay here to know nothing about other countries, it's something you would be embarassed about so you have motivation to learn.
