Texas-style Life Pro Tips (Pro-Life Tips?)

Lets just move past splitting hairs over the meaning of individual words with religious connotations already. I definitely agree that I should have been more careful than to use a word like "blasphemy" in an abortion debate, but the only religious undertones in that post are the ones that you are reading into it.

Now, you may have not mentioned male rights with respect to child birth, but they are inextricably linked to the pro-choice movement, two sides of the same coin, if you will. You can try to argue that male rights already exist, but that is a pure fabrication as the only sure way that a man can evade child support is with the consent of the maternal parent because the state considers the male contribution to be in the best interest of the child...very similar to the rationale used to restrict access to abortions. Sure, with enough time and money a man MAY be able to escape payments, but what of low income men? Note that is the same rationale used by so many pro choice advocates to argue against the heartbeat law. The difference is that women can choose to leave Texas for an abortion, whereas a man has to hope for a sympathetic judge.

And since what I have already said is going to attract down votes like women in this topic love coat hangers I might as well point out that it takes two humans to create a viable fetus. Excluding cases where abortion is medically necessary (a stated exception to the heartbeat law, btw), the paternal parent has as much right to the fetus as the maternal parent. It is unfortunate that mother nature cursed your gender to carry the burdens of pregnancy alone, but that is life. One can only hope that medical technology advances to the point that we are able to transfer the fetus to a surrogate in cases where the paternal father wants the child rather than relying on an unwanting mother to carry it to term.

Lastly, you are perfectly free to use contraceptives, seek doctor consultations to catch early term pregnancy or whatever measures you deem necessary to catch pregnancy before the 5 week mark (reliable methods do exist). Being responsible is not a hard thing to do. You can darned well bet that a responsible man is making regular doctor visits if having unprotected or under protected sex with relative strangers to catch STDs early, as should any woman who is doing the same. Just think of pregnancy as an STD that you need to catch early on.

I really hate to do it, but I am just going to have to quote another poster now: "Pro choice is not about choice, but is rather about excusing irresponsibility."

If you can't be responsible enough to get a blood test after unprotected sex then do the tax base a favor and buy a dildo. To try and abate some of the sexist overtones to the statement I will add that the same goes for men...get a damned blood test if your going to be promiscuous.
