The whole dalit thing-it doesn't matter where it came from. The fact of the matter is that hindus follow it and keep it going. Dalits are akin to the God's feet. The whole system came out of the book Manusmriti.(The laws of Manu) Manu is a mermaid from hinduism. So there is a hierarchy and Hindus keep it going. And in this hierarchy, some lower-castes were more likely to be converted or musims are seen as a low-caste mughal hybrid mostly.
Secondly, I know the history behind Kashmir. But the fact of the matter is that the muslim population did not want to be given to India. That's the majority of Kahsmir. They wanted independence or wanted to belong to Pakistan. That's a fact. And they were promised an election that never happened. They were always put in lower positions than Kashmiri hindus most notably brahmins and that's the reason for their violent attitude that unfortunately led to a genocide and because, kashmir was more of an autonomous state which led to kashmiri muslims taking advantage. I'm fair here. So yes, that was a genocide.
But let's not get twisted that, systematically if muslims were not being oppressed, had their decisions dismissed, and been treated like second class citizens in their own land, there wouldn't have been such an violent outrage. But your country is not going to give them no election because it needs their water. Neither does your stupid country treat its minorities very well because as I said, now punjab wants khalistan. How long is your stupid government going to crack down on saperatists? You have kashmir, punjab, west bengal doesn't seem to like the current government either, andra pradesh was supposed to be pakistan historically. The other cases signify that the government sucks at handling minorities or anyone that isn't the upper class upper caste hindu. (This whole subcontinent is fucked to be honest)

Budhism actually overthrew the caste system. Budhism may have some beliefs of people reincarnating as per their karma but the caste system with some people being akin to god's head and others god's feet is exclusively hindu.
