Those in hard sciences, how has Critical Theory helped in your research focuses and understanding of your subjects?

Let me give you my impression of what you wrote here.

  1. You are writing to impress, not to convey your message efficiently. You are finding ways to incorporate and weave esoteric terms into your writing.
  2. You seem to already have read (skimmed?) some texts of interest to you. I have no idea what these texts are, but there must be a common theme in them, that you are exploring.
  3. Start one text at a time. Find out what main primary message the author is presenting. try to Chart the steps by which the author builds his/her case. Find discrepancies in his/her logic and syllogisms. When you finish the text, you should be able to articulate in simple words what the author said in that book, how he built his arguments, how he reached his conclusion. You should be able to identify the “holes in the arguments” and how those would change the conclusion.
  4. Do this for a few texts.
  5. compare the different texts, their argument and conclusions. Find out how they agree or disagree. Write your own analysis of the ‘literature’ in that topic.
  6. Continue building up your grasp of additional texts and arguments, until you have your own coherent view of the topic.
  7. You should be able to defend your own coherent view, so think of any counterargument you can get, and either resolve incongruities or revise your coherent view.
