Indeed, the God of Abraham, Issac, and Moses is indeed the Father of Christ. Please, do express your hatred for the God of Israel to the Jews in Germany and France... and then surrender yourself to be imprison, as those governments have made anti-religious speech (especially towards Jews) illegal, rather than the religion itself!
As for science, which Catholics were against science, exactly? Certainly, you don't mean the great Catholic pioneers of scientific discovery do you? Men like René Descartes, Nicolas Copernicus, Louis Pasteur, Blaise Pascal, André-Marie Ampère, Gregor Mendel, Charles-Augustin de Coulomb, Pierre de Fermat, Antoine Laurent Lavoisier, Marin Mersenne, Alessandro Volta, Augustin-Louis Cauchy, Pierre Duhem, Jean-Baptiste Dumas, Roger Boscovich, Pierre Gassendi, and Georgius Agricola, etc., etc., etc.?
And those are just the laymen. There are Roman Catholic cleric-scientists, too! For good measure, it's said among the scientific community that the crucial connection between Fr. Mendel’s work and Darwin’s theory of evolution might have come to light sooner had Fr. Mendel’s writings found greater support. Mendel knew of Darwin and read his books, but Darwin (being an atheist) knew nothing of Mendel!
Lastly, no man of good consciousness can look at the world today and say that it has "progressed for the better." Such a man is not distracted by iPhones and gadgets, gigantic buildings and fast cars. Many evils have been wrought over the last two centuries in the name of "progress" -- Communism, Fascism, and Liberalism most notably! There is no "inquisition" and persecution perpetrated by any Catholic more greater than of those who subscribe to such godless, man-centered ideologies such as Communism, Fascism, and Liberalism!
Despite the past, any harm a Catholic may have done was in spite of their Faith, and NOT because of it. On the contrary, your godless faith in man and his ideologies (Communism, Fascism, and Liberalism) more you and others towards hatred because of the selfish, misguided errors rooted in your self love. But please, do explain how "evil" the Catholic Church was for saving a near million Jews from the holocaust thanks to rescue and shelter granted by Pope Pius XII and hundreds of other priests, brothers, and sisters. Where were the atheists to save the Jews?
I could go on, but perhaps you wish to see the Church as you want to see it: bleak, dark, and ugly... but that's just you looking in the mirror.
