TicTok Autism

A lot of autistic tiktokkers (especially openly self diagnosed ones) seem to be almost comical stereotypical depictions of how people think an autistic person looks like

This is what concerns me about the social media-driven push to legitimize self-dxers. People who are actually autistic have well-documented differences in how our brains are wired compared to NT folks. Even within autism itself, there are significant differences in neural connections between what we used to call "high-functioning" (aspergers) and "low-functioning" autistic individuals.

These differences from the NT general population can present in terrible difficulties for us, and it's insulting to see how flippantly we're caricatured in social media.
