TIL ADHD doesn't always mean 'short attention span'. 'Hyperfocusing' on a task for hours on end is also a known symptom of ADHD, where the inability to stop is considered to be the problem.

Ok, I honestly feel like I have this or some form of it. My wife and I have renovated houses and do all kinds of work ourselves in the yard and such and I can get really obsessed with every little detail, to the point that it keeps me up and I obsess about it for months. I try to explain it to my wife but she just doesn't understand it. She used to put a lot of pressure on me to help her with her projects she'd dream up and I needed to put a stop to it. It makes me miserable. She gets pretty upset when I draw that line in the sand about my limits because it takes her longer to do things by herself, but I can't detach from it until it's done 100% or someone says or loud that it's done, and it can't be me. It's absolutely maddening. The worst part for me is l completely recognize it, but I absolutely can't stop it.
