TIL two teenagers were found dead in Mexico after they had unknowingly bullied the son of a cartel member at their high school.

Studying actually.

Here we go, round again. Unless you are some god bother-er who believes God gave us rights and only he can take them away it should be a pretty simple thing to work out.

Where do such rights come from ultimately? Answer that and you'll have your answer. Lets say a right were granted allowing "everyone the right to call Anothergen a dick". Who would have the power to monitor this and ultimately take it away? Surely that would fall on the structures put in place for deciding such things (in this discussion we are referring to this as "the state").

I'm sure you'll fall back on the "but its unjust and what gives them the right" and around we go again. Apparently any answer I give isn't an answer.

Why can't you answer my simple question? Would you rather have a lot of options to choose from or fewer options? Whilst you may prefer fewer options like say when you go to a restaurant because it is easier to choose from a small number of dishes, when it comes to society and life in general, bigger is better. Why rule out anything. Some people might like to send all waste into the sun, but maybe someday we'll make use of it, and what then. Oh, too late, shame those idiots outlawed the thing that would have saved mankind.

Whilst your well intentioned ban might prevent the state from ending the life of a prisoner, what happens when it also ends any chance of state authorized euthanasia? People today who assist loved ones kill themselves are called murders by idiots like you who believe no one has the right to take away "God given rights", and that "all life has value".

As I said before a blanket ban on something is an archaic way of handling a problem. They are often well intentioned, but rarely end up exactly as intended. I would prefer some sort of govt overseeing of euthanasia, which means I'm happy for the govt to have a little well controlled power over such things. Same thing goes for capital punishment. I don't condone willy nilly silly billy executions, but I can see a system in which it is done with care and responsibility (just like with euthanasia). Again I ask, why can't you?
