Yeah, unfortunately there can be different interpretations to text, and this strategy like any can backfire. I personally avoid the multiple exclamation points after just one sentence for this reason. But I still add tons of exclamations to my emails in general. There are often more of them than periods. And it didn’t start that way. It’s definitely something I’ve developed because I noticed different reactions when I did it. By nature I’m a friendly but very direct person, especially at work. If we could all just speak directly with the understanding no one is trying to be an asshole, they’re just trying to get things done efficiently, I would be in eden. But that just never works for me.
