He still lives in the house he bought back in '58 for around 30k.

Granted, it's a very nice house. 30k in '58 was worth like 250k today. The current value of the house is around 700ish.

Still not something you would consider a billionaire to live in though.

I live about a 5 minute drive from the original Hathaway Mills.

They started in the late 19th century as a textile mill. They merged with Berkshire in the 50's, and then were bought by Buffett in the 60's....and today I think most people have at least heard of Berkshire Hathaway, it's one of the biggest conglomerates in the world.

The mills here went defunct back in the 80's, along with our local economy. A good portion of them were torn down around 3 or 4 years ago.

What still remains though, hopefully will. It's an important part of history.
