Told my ex that I’m moving to the US for a job, which I’m uncertain about. What in the flag shagging nonsense is this? (He’s a lifelong “labour” voter)

Hi, American who did the opposite and moved to the UK. Ummmmm, he’s wrong. America is a 3rd world country masquerading as a 1st world country.

Whatever shit Britain is going through right now is much more manageable and can be brought back from the brink versus what’s going on in the US. I lived there for 29 years and I’m from Virginia. I lived 60 miles from the historic capitol of the Confederacy. I should, by all logic, be one of those flag shaggers. But I’m not. I got out, because I had a way out. Every single person I know would trade places you in a second, despite all of the problems Britain has right now.

I implore you, do NOT go. My father fell for it 35 years ago and it chewed him up and spit him out, destroyed him as a person. You will be discrimated against for being British. You will earn lower wages than Americans for being foreign. You will AND SHOULD be scared if you ever get pulled over by the police. You will go bankrupt getting hurt and having to go to the hospital. If you’re a woman or identify as a woman your rights will be taken from you, triple so if you’re a minority.

Please, do not go. Please. Stay. Britain, for all its flaws, is so much safer a place to be than the United States right now.
