Tom Brady got suspended. Meet his replacement Jimmy Garoppolo. I'm... ok with this

Yeah man, the mods stand with you to the hilt and we personally are like that. This is my opinion only, I don't know where the other mods stand, but I think this is what happened:

a) We grew too quickly. I joined this sub when we had 2,000 subscribers -- it's what first brought me to Reddit in the first place. Now we have 50,000 subscribers and the bros got too lazy to post real stuff while other elements came in with their social justice bullshit.

b) We had a series of really bad mods during a crucial time in our growth. When we became a medium-sized sub, we got a lot of media attention. Half the community was really excited to see us, but the other half accused us of being self-loathing and infantile. During that time, some of the mods advocated strongly to expand the definition of a "gaybro" without actually defending an important point: the gay community has every flavor from bear to queen, so why can't there also be a community for conventional guys who do conventional things because they enjoy them? Problematically, those same mods weren't conventional guys, but were radicals.

c) Too little too late. By the time I came onboard as a mod and started seriously clamping down, there were absolute riots over new rules. We tried everything to make it work. Really, this was a labor of love for us. We spend an inordinate amount of time on this site. However, by the time we clamped down the real bros had already left and the majority of posters came from a variety of backgrounds. We therefore became the default sub for everything that /r/gaymers, /r/gay, /r/lgbt and all the other subs are not and we've just accepted that this is how things will have to be unless we want an entirely dead sub.
