I took my own daughter for granted to the point she chose to live with her barely present father cause liquor and my fiance are more important. I also chose the stepparents sub to share this.

I agree with this. My daughters father and I are not together. I always waited months before I introduced them to her. She doesn't need to get attached to someone just for them to not be in her life later on. My now fiance of 5 years and I are living together and my daughter absolutely loves him. She get along with and lives his daughter as well. Thankfully everyone gets along and enjoys each other. I dont know what I would do if my daughter had a problem with him. I've heard of kids being resentful that their parents split and therefore hates anyone that their parent starts dating. That was the reasoning for my question. At what point do you put your happiness aside for your kids? I've done it for 7 years. Thankfully I do not think that is an issue I have to face anymore.
