I was a little girl with super long hair. My mom didn’t really care I liked it longer but a few times I didn’t want it anymore so I got it cut only to be devastated for weeks on end. The mom in this story might know her kid well enough to know that the girl wouldn’t like shorter hair. I agree with people saying she shouldn’t treat her daughter like a doll but I really don’t trust oop is reliable.

If the girl is frustrated with her hair in a moment it would probably be better to I dunno pull it back? Cutting a child’s hair who isn’t yours seems very aggressive and the line about keeping the cut hair because the mom might want it just screams that oop is out of touch.
