They’re guidelines. The judge makes the final decision using his discretion. There’s no need for tabloid outrage the guy still sexually abused a child so what if he’s embarrassed and was expelled from uni? That’s what will happen if he goes to jail, it’s the bare minimum of punishments. It’s not like the guy did it by accident or didn’t realise what he was doing. He did it over several years and knew exactly what he was doing, he should be in jail and outrage against him not being there is absolutely justified. Peados get nowhere near enough of a punishment in this country and ever case has someone out trying to defend the peado.
