Transgender Health AMA Series: I'm Dr. Johanna Olson-Kennedy, Medical Director of the Center for Transyouth Health and Development at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. I'm here to answer your questions on patient care for transyouth! AMA!

The numbers in the post galorin shared are most certainly lower than the actual number of detrans people. I, along with most other detransitioned women I've been in contact with, ceased seeing our physicians and therapists to avoid judgement and/or pressure to continue transitioning. I and a lot of others never informed any medical professional of our detransitions.

I, thankfully, was never able to afford surgery. So, I'm now working on reversing(in whatever ways I can) years of hormone replacement therapy. My menstraul cycle, which pre-testosterone was always perfectly predictable, has yet to return but I do have a lot of ovarian pain(something I never experienced before hormones and will be looking into more when I have the money). Before hormone replacement therapy I was able to conceive and carry to term 2 children. I sincerely hope my vaginal health has not been jeopardized. My breasts have filled back out. I lost about a cup on hormones and that has returned. My voice sounds like a mans and always will as I refuse to have surgery to correct it. I am very hairy, which will never go away. I will likely have laser hair removal on my face at some point because I'm tired of shaving it daily. On testosterone, my body fat was redistributed in a manner than made my body look more masculine. That has not changed a lot so far, but I am losing some of the muscle I gained in T and my hips are beginning to come back.

For those detransitioned women that had top surgery, implants are an option but they're costly and, due to the skin removed from top surgery, I imagine they can't be very big. For those that had bottom surgery, there are no options to reverse this.
