I am a new Trials player, so I cannot comment on previous Metas, but I think if you take it for what it is (a highly-competitive, tense, exciting, team-mode) then it can be highly enjoyable.
Perhaps the cause of not enjoying it is taking it a little too seriously? If you can accept that you are decent at the game, and that there are many who are far worse, and others who are far, far better, then you learn to improve (through your mistakes), better your communication, and notice, I think, some minor improvements that can actually impact a match greatly.
I've only gotten to five wins (I think) and otherwise usually get to three or so before getting stomped, but I've played with, and against, some really sound folk - we celebrate when we make a great play, we fall silent when we fail, and we laugh when we get destroyed.
Just relax, man! Stop caring about your K/D or your ELO (or whatever that is!) and enjoy earning some sweet weapons, armour, shaders, emblems, etc.
Besides, even after a few wins, and decking your Guardian out in full Trials gear, you sure do get a lot of random Guardians 'checking you out' and waving, dancing with you - which, in and of itself, is rather fun.
