Who else was once "born again"?

i think the experiential phenomenon of the born again experience can be experienced even outside of christianity, but i think it is something that Christianity especially evangelicals have hijacked from what used to be of the world's and made it into their God's trademark. by pushing it to the fanatic/manic degree the world may have learned to perceive it as being cringey and scary therefore it became their trademark.

in reality there too are secular media depictions of being born again. Nietzshce's camel-lion-child stages of life, Herman Hesse's Demian (hatching out of egg, Demian being like Sinclaire's ideal-self), Neon Genesis Evangelion (Asuka finally coming in touch with her mom having always protected her), HunterXHunter (I think Meruem and Komugi could be interpreted as Nietzsche's lion and child) etc.

difference is that the former requires you to wait for God to do it for you, so you assume it came "by grace", so it may just stop as being once-in-a-life-time experience which then will make you iterate things like "when I first met Jesus". also toxic fundie-like interpretations can _ be introduced where the interpretation of "being child-like" becomes a return to the innocence so now they can play dumb and go out and conquer and insult the world in Jesus's name. whereas in the latter it happens when you are in deep connection with yourself and life, and you don't rely and wait for Jesus to give you this experience, and is often retriggerable in the course of your life.

i can even re-emulate what i would call the same qualitiative experience except all the Jesus and Christian coponents thrown out. for me it is often as easy as smoking some pot and enjoying things fully as they are, being in the flow and focused on my life ("this is what I was born for" moments), intensely processing through accumulated difficult life emotions and thoughts, etc.

in summary, i think it is not something that was supposed to be so special but something that Christianity has managed to hijack from the world and made it into their own trademark by making it cringey to the outsiders but perfectly acceptable internally as they were never "of this world" anyway.
