I want to try LSD but I'm never in a great headspace. Is that okay?

You know for me it's opposite. When I go into a trip the number one thing that causes it to sway either positive or negative is my mood. If I'm feeling optimistic going in, the drug pushes me into euphoria, positive thoughts, and generally opens me up slightly more. I haven't really had a bad trip but I've noticed with L that when I start getting anxious or regretting taking the drug, like when I went snowboarding with someone, also on L who hasn't skied in like 8 years to a small ski and snowboarding hill (I live in the midwest) with like 300 middle school aged kids on an after school ski club trip, I start feeling the anxiety on much stronger level, but I'm still able to keep it together and act pretty sober. This was a pretty strong trip as well.

All in all, I'd debate that whether it's a good trip or a meltdown has a lot more to do with your mood than your thoughts/head space. LSD and shrooms act on serotonin receptors, which regulate mood/emotions after all. Also, I'd definitely be wary of taking psyches with mental illness in the fam. If you do have a meltdown (I see a true bad trip as having psychosis) the underlying illness could be brought out permanently. So if I were you I'd ask what illnesses your family members have. If it has anything to do with psychosis or schizo related disorders I'd steer clear of psychs.
