TwoX, I'm a guy with a question or two for you about combatting Casual Sexism among my male friends.

I am skeptical of you. I suspect this post is an appeal for validation. Like how you digress about pornstar gifs and the scary implications of redditors who post them. But ad hominem is not the point of my reply, so with respect to your question:

I am curious what your REAL take on this is. Are the jokes proof that your friends are sexist? I don't know them, but what if they know that a woman's place is not limited to the kitchen and the whole point of the humor behind the joke is that the joke itself is wrong? Are these more likely meta jokes? The content is not the what is funny, the context is (an incredibly out-dated sexist joke among friends who know better). If that is the case then it makes you seem socially autistic in a way. Some people think that there are issues so serious and important that you can never make light of them ever. I disagree. I think just about anything is fair game for a joke in the right company (ie those who know better). So let's say you call out your friends on this "I don't get it, why is that funny?", what if the reaction is "Do you REALLY think we're not joking? that we are serious when we say those things? that some of us are too stupid to know better? You really think that little of us?". I'm inferring some things here. I am assuming you are "politically correct" and that you wouldn't be friends with people you think are misogynists. If they are misogynists you hate, then the answer is pretty easy. Just stop being their friends.

OR... instead of the whole passive aggro thing "I don't get your joke", which is does NOT go over well with men in general, just get serious with "Joking aside, I have a serious question. What do you honestly think about women [insert feminist issue here]?" Which will probably yield some politically correct responses. Finally...

To the point of humor. They are probably laughing at the absurdity of sexist ideas. Would you rather they laugh at the "absurdity" of equality, rights, and justice?

I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt though and think most are not mean and evil.
