Married middle aged man here. Once a year I go to a rock festival with some friends, and maybe a few other gigs, because I'm a dad and I like to rock out and pretend it's 1992 again occasionally.
This year everything got cancelled, so I got a bunch of refunds. Also, I got into playing Warzone with my friends during lockdown - only I was on PS4, which kind of sucked (even with keyboard and mouse). So I used my gig refunds to buy a gaming rig.
After a couple of weeks my wife noticed that my PC looked different, and we "had a conversation" about it. She said she was annoyed that I didn't tell her, not that I bought the PC. But I know how these conversations go - if I'd told her I was thinking of buying a new PC for myself, we'd have to talk about it for three months and then I'd have ended up buying a Remington typewriter.
Totally worth it - for the first time in years I can play AAA titles at 60fps+ with medium/high settings.
