[Unpopular Opinion] I like Elder Oaks - and he's bringing it today when talking about the US Constitution - I know he's got his shortcomings but he IS a constitutional scholar - and what he is saying today is VERY relevant to recent events in America

I would trust his opinion on constitutional law over mine or yours, but I'm guessing he would have had practicing lawyers review his talk specifically due to his lack of relevance. I'd definitely trust them more than I'd trust him as he's been out of the game for more than 37 years. He only practiced for a total of 11 + 10 more years teaching (counting the internship and 3 years as an associate). He was oddly appointed as a supreme court justice by the Utah governor despite being both an LDS GA, just happening to be released from being BYU's president, and hadn't practiced law for about 20 years at that point while never having experience as a judge prior. In contrast, he's been a GA for 50+ years.

I may be biased due to his "lying for the Lord" and the salamander apologetics, but I don't consider him either relevant, trustworthy, unbiased, or an expert on modern law. He has experience, but it's stale, at best.
