'Unprecedented' mass releases of migrants strain churches to limit

While the Trump administration has been focusing on mass migration “caravans” traveling from Central America, with thousands now stuck in limbo in Tijuana, across the border from San Diego, crossings by small groups and individuals have been surging elsewhere, further from the public eye.

US officials in the Rio Grande valley in eastern Texas are apprehending about 680 people a day, compared with fewer than 150 in San Diego daily, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said.

That’s an awful lot, 680 people a day not crossing legally or as part of a caravan. Can this be right? That’s over a quarter of a million in that one area alone.

Also, are the people they are releasing already processed and fitted with tracking anklets waiting for court dates? The article mentions they have family or sponsors they can stay with but are just dropped off at a bus station? Why can’t they be provided with a ticket, that doesn’t seem too hard to do.

This president loves his chaos and anything that makes this look like an unmanageable crisis is a plus for him. God forbid anyone should focus on a humane logistical management policy.
