maybe "Rubus" truly is an expert, but "Rubus" is not a public figure and this an anonymous forum on the internet so not everyone intimately knows each other by reddit screen name and their specific knowledge bases and academic/professional background.

The OP didn't contain any sources, references or data so how could anyone (especially someone who isn't a regular or is new) know that? Well maybe hardcore /r/bellingham regulars like you might memorize the screen names of everyone who posts regularly but I doubt many do, and to most people "Rubus" is just another rando and they don't have any real reason to trust them as an expert on local meteorology.

It is pretty simply, you could even just say something "I checked on _____ and _____ and the data seems to indicate _______"
