Value of JD/MBA?

Ph.D. In chemistry.

Hijacking OP's post, but do you have any personal experience/insight on pursuing patent law without a PhD? Assuming the person has a met the science requirements...

I have a STEM bachelor's degree and master's in a STEM (but not "hard" science) field. I'm considering patent law but I don't know if I'll enjoy the work, so I don't want to commit a few years of my life to a PhD. I'm reading a lot of contradictory opinions online, though it seems like the consensus is a PhD would definitely help (for non-engineering fields). So I'm not really sure how one goes about trying out patent work without pursuing a PhD first. Any insight?
