Bullshit rules at work

If there's one thing that's always saved my soul at miserable jobs it's how funny I find corporate incompetence.

One fun example that immediately comes to mind is when I worked as an ISP tech. I'll spare you the technical details, but basically there were situations where you were trying to install someone's internet, but a previous tech had already used your port for whatever reason (like they were lazy, which is fine). You'd call in to get another port assigned to you instead, and they would do that for you. Then one day they changed the policy. So now if you called in to do it the right way and change your port, they'd tell you to just unplug the other one and use it, even though that would take that other customer out of service, and they'd have to go thru the whole nightmare of getting their internet fixed. When we eventually brought it up to the managers they told us to just lie to the company's phone tech support to get them to do what we need.
