Week of 5/22/2017 general questions megathread.

There's a list of short stories/poems that you are expected to know. Buy a book (or books) that contain those stories and read them. Know how to analyze them for rhetorical strategies and literary devices. Know how to connect the stories back to the time period they were written in. Some things I'd memorize:

  • Name of the author of each poem/short story
  • The time period the piece was written in
  • What type of genre the literature falls under
  • What year it was written in

It's definitely possible to self-study, but it might be a little more difficult than taking a traditional class at school. As for the books, I recommend the Abriendo Puertas books. They're pretty damn cheap, and they have all the short stories/poems you'll need and more. They also have definitions in Spanish, which is really helpful sometimes. You'll need tomo I and tomo II.

I don't think I'm missing anything. I just realized that you posted this 4 days ago, so sorry about the late reply. If you have any questions, just shoot me a PM. Good luck
