I went to this really nice restaurant a while ago...

I used to work at an Italian restaurant/sports bar. It was an interesting setup as they were both owned and run by the same family and the only thing dividing the two was a wall between with a set of glass doors. Each "side" had a different menu and atmosphere. The restaurant side was more formal, with a nice menu and the bar side was a typical sports bar with typical bar food.

It never failed that every Friday night we'd get the same problem. Around 8-9pm we'd get a family with anywhere from 2-4 kids. They'd sit down, I'd bring menus, and then the game would begin. "Do you have a kid's menu?" We didn't. "Where are the French Fries? I don't see them on this menu." That's because they're not there. "Can I order fries and onion rings from the bar and have them brought here?" Nope. "Why not?" Because this is a restaurant and we don't serve bar food here. "But the bar is right there. I can see it from here! Why don't you serve bar food in the restaurant?" Its policy, the owner likes the restaurant to be more classy and as such we don't serve bar food in the restaurant. "Can I take my kids in the bar side and just order food?" Nope, kids aren't allowed as they're not of age. "So you're telling me that the same kitchen makes all the food that goes to the restaurant and the bar, but I can't order bar food in the restaurant?" That's correct. "But I can order restaurant food in the bar, can't I?" Yes, you can. "That's a terrible way to run a business! You're going to lose so much business from all the families who just want to go out and have a quick meal." Sir, if all you wanted was a quick order of fries you should have gone to McDonald's.

I did not, at any point inform customers that we offered take out. Any of them could have ordered fries from us as take out then proceeded to sit at one of our tables and eat those fries. Unfortunately their anti-kid stance was the only good thing about working there.
