FYI since you're so hung up on the three year part, I think you forgot the part that the guy originally said 1,5 years are mandatory by law, but it CAN and will be expanded to 3 years by the company youre working for

and, you know, in most civilized countries small businesses do get certain government grants and other financial assistance too - so in some of them im sure its also something in regards to parental leave

additionally, when youre in said civilized country as a small business owner, you of course also know that your employee might have to go on parental leave, so you factor that into your finances too - especially since you know, its not like the parental leave comes out no nowhere - your employee is gonna give you a couple of months heads up too

the simplest way to realize this isn't a problem at all is to just... look at all the nice, civilized countries that have it and see its not a problem for them.
