I revisited Revelations: Persona.

I'll say this much, the music is awesome and the story was very unique considering the time it was released. I also can respect the fact that it was one of the few RPGs set in the modern day at the time instead of being standard high fantasy.

But, holy shit is the translation fucked. It's like, every time I look at this game, I find something new that got butchered. I replayed FF7 and didn't realize how bad the localization was to begin with(This guy are sick), but this one trumps it big time. Half the time the dialogue is nonsensical, the poor attempts at convincing you that this is totally not Mikage-Cho or anything (seriously, fucking Shinto Shrines in 'Murica?), the butt-fucking of every character minus Yukino (Black Mark is up to you to decide) because she's only there for about five minutes, the fact that the SQQ is missing, you gain more EXP compared to the Japanese version but they forgot to increase the money gained relative to your EXP gain, pretty much every Persona, demon, spell name, item, location, weapon, armor, character name, and dialogue bit was altered, and the combat being admittedly a bit slow by now just really hampers the experience.

However, it's also almost kind of fascinating to see the beginning of the franchise over here. Not counting Jack Bros., this was the first MegaTen related game we got over here, that was a role playing game at least. It has value in that aspect at least. I can't fully recommend it due to having a butchered translation and the fact that the PSP version exists (although the music left much to be desired). It's more of a curiosity piece than anything. Check it out if you have an interest to see where Persona and the MegaTen RPGs in the west began, but that's really all it has going for it along with a bitchin' soundtrack.
