Betsy DeVos is a businesswoman whose company neurocore specialized in molding, modeling, and analyzing the human brain, specifically in regards to learning disorders. After being nominated she was berated by every media outlet available more so than any man Trump picked; mainly, because of her being in a position highly criticized by the younger demographics who are now having kids (18-35). She is a big advocate for charter schools, giving the power of education to the free market, rather than one mandated by the government. In her opinion, giving the freedom to choose course material creates diversity of opinion, diversity of choices for parents, and diversity in available careers upon graduation. This is heavily criticized because it makes school more pay to play than in previous years and can get less funding in less competitive areas. She has been protested, blocked from entering buildings, had things thrown at her, and was under a magnifying glass for her whole approval hearing.

All in all, many complain about common core and the school system, but want all directions of big decisive change depending on who you ask. DeVos is attempting to make a big decisive change that voters are asking for in education; however, many people are not happy with her choice in HOW to change it due to lack of trust in her ability as well as the Administration she works for.
