What are some interesting life hacks for saving money?

To me, the biggest factors were:

  • Always pay off credit cards with every statement. Don't spend money you don't have.
  • No need to upgrade phones every 2 years
  • No need to upgrade cars every 3 years
  • Cook at home
  • Add up how much things cost, like Starbucks, drinks with friends etc over a month. I sure stopped going to Starbucks since..
  • Off brand for things that are no different, like ibuprofen.
  • Trying not to fall for advertisement, make my own judgement when it comes to products.
  • Is your cable provider really the cheapest (I know, out of the two)? We switched recently, saved like $100/m
  • Do you really need Netflix Hulu Spotify Pandora HBO etc?
  • Use an app like mint, make sure you review ALL your spendings once a month, just consider what you spent money on

Our expenses are gradually getting lower year over year, but we still get most things we want.
