I might sound like captain obvious, but being a good driver makes driving exponentially more safe than being an unsafe one. By being a good driver, I mean actually following the rules of the road and safety procedures precisely and not fudging them like 99% of people.

Driving “only” 5 mph above the speed limit. Rolling stops. Accelerating to make a yellow light. Starting to accelerate before the light actually turns from red to green. Pulling into intersections to turn left before there’s actually an opening. The vast majority of people do these things, and even get angry at people who don’t, yet doing them makes the roads far more dangerous.
