One of my old supervisors was an air traffic controller working in the region it happened. He believes this was the case after talking to the guy that worked the aircraft. I'd assume the White House didn't want to advertise that they shot it down for the obvious shit storm that'd follow. I will say that I honestly couldn't fathom being in the position of deciding whether to shoot down an aircraft with innocent people on board that also happen to be on an aircraft intended to be used as a weapon. No choice is good, it's just a matter of being transparent at that point.

The idea of a missile hitting the Pentagon and drones hitting the twin towers is horseshit, however. If people want to say the government or a foreign government let it happen? I don't have information to say otherwise. However, the intricate dreamlike scenario advertise on 9/11 truther sites isn't plausible, unless literally every controller involved from departure to the moment they went NORDO and turned off their transponder would also have to be in on it. Since I work with some of those guys, I can confirm without doubt it's horseshit.
