Threads like this make me happy that I'm mostly disconnected from the shit my friends do with their lives. I made a FB account like two months ago, check it like once a week, and regret it instantly. Sometimes I'm surprised that the people I know irl are like that, but hey, I guess other times I'm not.

That said this isn't the current drama, but it was not too long ago. It's the most interesting recent story I can think of that I actually know anything about, so there you go.

In my group of dudes at university, everyone gives everyone else shit, but we're generally all cool with it and most of us know when to back off, so our conversations are at least half serious. One of the guys, a freshmen at the time when the rest of us are all at least a couple years older, was taking the opportunity to talk about his girl friend back home. Cue the jokes from us, but then he drops that this girl is 15, and the "jokes" become along the lines of "what the actual fuck is wrong with you." He's 18, but he's siting there bragging about dating a minor, and when we give him actual shit about it, he takes it as a joke. Whatever; we move on, and this was like January.

Flash forward to April and I hear news that he's broken up with her. It's like, okay, cool, maybe by this time next year I'll stop the pedophile jokes. But it was the fucking worst thing, because he was trying to get sympathy for himself by telling anyone who would listen that he had to drop her because she would have sex with him. Like, dude, are you serious? He tries to defend himself, and it's so pathetic. When we tell him he's a disgusting creep, he puts on that grinning face that a disgusting creep puts on when they think you're joking about calling them a disgusting creep. No joke bro, and bringing that shit up publicly is weird.
