It wasn’t me, but my friend/roommate instead about two months ago here in Montana... We were snowboarding and his girlfriend type deal showed up as well and we all had a good day shredding the slopes. Towards the end of our day, we all hit this gnarly jump in the park that we always hit. I went first. Got the jump, stomped the landing. His girlfriend just kinda glided over it slowly getting a feel for it. He was up next. I was already out of sight and was waiting for a solid few minutes wondering what happened to them. I unbinded started to hike back up towards the jump and immediately knew something was wrong. He was rolling around in pain screaming bloody murder. His girlfriend was freaking out too so I told her to go block off the jump (my friend was still right below the jump. no bueno). He told me when I ran up that he heard a loud pop and saw his knee bend (unnaturally) completely inwards towards his other knee and I knew what had happened right away. I drive him to the ER and lo and behold, he tore his ACL and meniscus. The doctor asked what had happened and jokingly said “Were you trying to impress a girl or something? Haha!” and the room got silent for a second before he told us that in reality, he really was trying to show out for his girl on that last jump, and well, ended up tearing his ACL/Meniscus.

TL;DR- My friend was trying to show off to his girl on a big hitting jump while snowboarding, ended up tearing his ACL/Meniscus and had to move back to Washington for surgery and recovery. Take notes kids, only hit jumps that you’re comfortable with and don’t do anything you normally wouldn’t just cause a cute girl is there!
