Living almost a full day with appendicitis. I was 15-years-old and had the medical knowledge of a brick but apparently so did our school nurse who shrugged her shoulders when I told I had a terrible stomach ache and let me go home. My parents were obviously at work so I tried some home remedies to help with the pain none of which worked. At 5 pm my dad comes home and when when I told about the pain his first response was "which side?". About 2 minutes later we're driving to the hospital as he knew it was an inflamed appendix. We had to sit around for a few hours since I wasn't priority 1 patient and I believe someone had just been wheeled in to the hospital 2/3 dead so everyone was busy with them. It was almost midnight before I got my first real pain killer in the form of a morphine shot. My dad says I looked like a half opened flip knife since I literally couldn't stand straight at that point. I had to lean to my right so far you'd think I have a spinal issue or something. I spent the night passed out from different hospital drugs and was operated in the morning.
