what illegal thing did you get away with?

This is a long time ago and obviously a throwaway.

My pals and I would shoplift from a major electronic goods store while in high school. The store had a policy allowing the opening of boxes to ensure the contents were in good condition. We would open up boxes and start shoveling in whatever we wanted; computer components, DVD players, iPods, etc. We would then buy whatever the biggest box was, usually a mini fridge or computer case, take out all the stolen goods and return the item at a different store. I remember having something like 10-15 people in on certain big "operations". Some would be decoys that would act suspicious and constantly pick stuff up, open it and leave it all over the store. Loss prevention would tail these decoys around but once we were clear, they would drop everything out of their pockets and leave the store, confusing the hell out of loss prevention. We would also have other people watching exits or distracting employees. Even when leaving, we would have two people in front and behind the principal to make sure the coast was clear. We also had a master security key that could disable and remove all those security tags. Over the course of 6 months, a bunch of us all of a sudden had brand new laptops, cellphones, and computers. Anything we did buy legitimately was returned. We eventually befriended a former employee of said store who mentioned that after the first 3 months, all the stores spent something like 10-15 grand revamping their loss prevention and security measures because of us. It got to the point that I had 5 brand new top of the line iPods in my backpack, someone stole one from me and I didn't even blink. Easy come, easy go as we liked to say.

We all stopped after a close call when we were leaving the store with close to 5 grand worth of computer parts and my friend was being tailed by Loss prevention. I was about 30 feet behind him trying to contact him on his cell to tell him to abort. Employees with walkie talkies were running around all over the entrance and exits but my friend was too busy on the phone with his girlfriend to pick up my call. As we leave, two loss prevention employees start coming up behind him and as he turns around, they tackle two random guys who were walking next to my friend. Turns out, these two were shoplifting and leaving at the exact same time as us. It was way too close to comfort and we noticed that none of us ever got a thrill from it. We only wanted some money and computer parts. To this day, I can still spot Loss Prevention employees from a mile away.
