What do you miss about the early Internet?

AngelFire too. People used Frontpage and sites like JavascriptSource for code snippets.

Wow, I spent so much time trying the different code snippets on that site. Alert boxes that asked for your name then said "Good morning, Jim!" on page load. Or those pesky gradient generators (I think we called them "faders") it would fade text from one color to another.

The people making VB6 "progz" that did various AOL tasks and would advertise the results in a chat room. The screen name crackers and collectors. Master AOL Tools. Chat games such as Pokemon trainers and word scramblers.

Subse7en Trojan. "Prank" apps that would do silly things like open and close the CD tray. Napster. Adding that custom modem flag to your 28.8k modem so you wouldn't hear it dial connect to the net.

AOL trial cds that constantly came in the mail. That amazing program called CallWave that allowed you to take calls while your phone was using the internet. Taking 4 hours to download a single song. Usenet groups. The list goes on and on.
