What moment(s) made you kinda feel like you were in "The Truman Show"?

When I created a social media account for utility purposes. I needed it to sign up for a thing, I don't actually use it.

They have everyone. Social media is scary, man. People I've never contacted in my life but went to school with, and this is when I just gave it my email address. I didn't let it search my address book, I didn't give it any personal information other than my name. It pulled up my 8th grade english teacher and that one math teacher that always annoyed me, plus a whole bunch of people from fucking elementary school. People I had known years ago only in passing? Right there on the list of people that they think I might know.

I've always stayed the hell away from social media - someone making money off of what little social life I have never sat quite right with me. I work to keep my name off the internet. I block people from taking pictures of me (although that's more for other reasons, but it helps here too). I give my email out only sparingly, using a series of loosely connected shell accounts where I can. I try to avoid using the same pseudonym across different sites. Reddit is about the closest I approach social media, and even then it's under the protection of a swarm of adblocking, antitracker, browser-hiding plugins.

Something's just not right here.
