What is a quote from your parent that is most memorable to you?

My first job ever was being a waitress at a sushi restaurant during one summer in college. My mother was livid at the idea of me being a waitress and tried to talk me out of it saying there were better things I could be doing with my time, but for whatever reason I was excited and determined, having never been in the work force before. The job would have been fun had my boss not been a crazy religious awful woman. For the sake of this post, I won't get any deeper that. However, the one issue that made me quit was that my schedule was never respected. My boss often times asked me to come in extra days or work extra hours. At first, I was happy to oblige since I really didn't mind, but overtime I noticed this was becoming a habit and there was really no point in me having a schedule if I was just going to be asked to come in every single day. I was worried this behavior would continue when I was back in classes during the fall and that my grades would slip from overfocusing on some part-time job. After only a couple months of having this "part-time" job suck up all of my time, I regrettably reported back to my mother and told her shamefully that I had quit expecting an "I told you so" or "haha idiot couldn't keep her job" sort of response.

Instead, she simply stated, "Everybody quits their first job."
