What has reddit destroyed for you?

Sure! The whole Bill Of Rights is full of libertarian/conservative ideas, giving freedoms to the people. This is evident in the freedom of speech, freedom to bear arms, freedom to not have the government take your land, the tenth amendment giving power to the states. Back when the constitution was drafted, the state governments were just as powerful/important as the national government, compared to nowadays where the national government is of course much more powerful/important. These values are all central to the conservative movements. The founders didn’t want a strong social government, so they made sure to avoid it. Of course, their attitudes and beliefs supported a much smaller central government, but that failed in the Articles of Confederation. The constitution’s goal was also never to be perfect, but to establish stability, which is why there are all the checks and balances in it.
