What is a scientific fact that you know is true, but it still blows your mind that it is real?

/u/patjohbra, please visit my previous post on the subject of imaginary numbers. I am not the person you responded to, but share their experience in terms of this blight. 'Imaginary' numbers are bad. Incomprehensible. I think you just made it worse with 'fidaddling'. WTF does that even mean????!!! Oh God, the horror. You obviously have a great skill with math. You're blessed. For a child or teenager who struggles and gets introduced to - 'numbers that are there, but NOT there' it gets even more confusing. Throw 'fidaddling' into the mix and I probably would've had an aneurysm. Numbers should be numbers.

I don't remember anyone giving numbers the permission to be imaginary. Numbers are numbers, not unicorns. I don't remember fidaddling anything either. I feel math raped. Sigh. Still, at least you and other people can do it. That's something I suppose.

I've been thinking about doing Math at Matric level, going back to school and whatever. Just because it irritates me that I can't (so far) and makes me feel stupid. I have a neighbour who's good at it, I could get the books and really give it another shot. Why not? There's no harm in trying to improve yourself. I'm going to have to start back at grade 9 level though, and power through. Even if I get a passing grade, that would be awesome but I'm going to do the best I can, and a good 'C' grade would be a real achievement because my brain just doesn't work that way.

That would be a wonderful certificate to send Mrs Parkes. : ) I've been stagnant and looking for a real challenge, maybe this is it. Thank you for your response friend! Wish me luck.
