What is a "silent" problem in the U.S. that isn't talked about enough? [Serious]

This is a relative thing but considering how the 1st and 2nd amendment are treated you'd think people would care about the 6th (right to a public trial by a jury of peers and so on) in the same way.

The US legal system seems to do all it can to avoid giving people a trial. From the insane money-based bail system, mandatory minimums, three-strike system, the way felons are treated after release... the massively underfunded public defenders system and so on it's no wonder less than 5% of criminals are actually put on trial with all the protection those public trials afford.

If tomorrow someone made a series of laws that restricted gun ownership to less than 5% of people would you still consider the 2nd amendment in effect?
