I just realized, this one is on my list as well.

When I'm reading fic, I HATE fake dating and miscommunication with a burning passion. But the fic I'm currently writing has both.

But the joy of writing is not necessarily the end story itself - it's the process you have to work through to get there, to make all the pieces fit together.

So, if I spend two months writing a story with a fake dating plotline, it's not that I like fake dating - it's that I like figuring out how to make the fake dating convincing, how to include scenes where they are almost discovered, or where someone misunderstands and confused hilarity ensues, how to slowly but surely have the couple realize that hey, they might want it to be real dating after all.

But reading that when it's all done and finished and created by someone else - no thanks.
