What is the strongest opinion you hold?

That science shouldnt be controlled by social environments. No matter how noble the cause may seem.

Let me explain. Social forces can be good for science sometimes like the whole global warming issue but it can also be bad.

Before I give my bad example i feel like its important for me to state that the gay community absolutley deserves their rights and should be respected as a people. With that said, the is some false science supported by social forces that makes people believe that you can be born gay. The scientific community has already showed that there is no gay gene that turns on and off that determines the sexuality of an individual. The best that we have discovered is patterns in our genes that we noticed in the gay community but they are just patterns, people who meet these criteria also are straight. You also develop into sexual adults when you hit puberty not when you are born. It is more to do with nature and nurture which we still do not understand. But you cannot be born gay as there is no gay gene.

The American Psychological Association has already stated that "There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles"

Even writing that i felt bad that people might lump me in with bad company but thats why i feel strongly about seperating the social and the scientific world. People shouldnt feel bad to post something like this....but what are you gonna do.
