Our town for a long time now used to dress up like Mormons and Indians and the army, and have a shambattle. We would burn a cabin and basically reenact the founding of our town.

Well, you can imagine it wasn't really all too popular with the tribe that was massacred here.(their surviving peoples) no was it very historically accurate. Neither did the story of mock battle that was historical practiced, as that battle wasn't necessarily with indians, hold up against scrutiny. It turns out the Mormons were getting along fine with those native people who lived and hunted there first. it turns out that there were a few bad apples on both sides that ruined it for everyone. and the army came in and slaughtered a lot of innocent people.

It made national news last year. And this year it was sans Indians. Actually, there are so many stories out there that I'm not entirely sure what is and isn't accurate.
