What is your opinion of including your SO in your Facebook profile picture?

So I understand why would want you to be in his profile picture. But I'm on your side here. I've never had an SO in my profile picture in any of my profile pictures. I probably won't either until I'm engaged or such because until that point, I don't want my identity to be known as someone's girlfriend, and then have it change to be someone else's girlfriend.

Not saying it makes sense since marriages and engagements end, but the commitment level is stronger and I know I feel more comfortable sharing that with the world than showing off a boyfriend. I post on social media occasionally. Like if there's an event that's worth posting a couple pic about or something, but otherwise I just leave it be. It's just not something I believe is anyone's business. I also hate being 'that' girl, where my whole life is centered around my relationship. So I'm not.

After I get engaged and get married though, I don't know how I'll be different but I know I'll be a bit more lax since I'll feel more comfortable sharing pics. Compared to my boyfriend though, I'm positively oversharing though. So there's that...

What I'm saying is, you use facebook for what you need it for. If you need it for your professional networking, then you use it for professional networking. My boyfriend certainly considers it a form of networking and ends up posting about us less than I do.

Your boyfriend uses it as a form of social bonding...so let him use it as social bonding. I know that I do, hence why I post what I post.

Neither one of you can tell each other what to do and obviously tell him that he can't compare to anyone since no one uses facebook the exact same way. You use it the way you want to use it.
