What's the dumbest rule you've ever had to follow for work or school?

In college, I worked at the school newspaper. When you work at a newspaper, you end up dating a fellow journalist. That's what happened with the editor in chief and the managing editor my junior year. So the top two leaders in the newsroom were dating. And they fought in front of everyone all the time. It was so uncomfortable.

I was third in command. Sometimes the managing editor would break up with the editor and then quit the newspaper during the fight. I would get called in by the editor to be in charge of the paper that night while those two would work out their shit. Then they would make up and it would be all fine and dandy. This happened a few times over junior year.

In the meantime, I end up dating the entertainment editor ( who is now my wife, bow chicka bow wow). We worked on different days so we never had the chance to fight at work like that.

Our senior year, the managing editor becomes the editor in chief. I become managing editor and my gf becomes the third in command. She makes me and my gf sign a contract saying we wouldn't bring OUR relationship in the newsroom. A CONTRACT. This only existed because her relationship with the previous editor. The icing on the cake was that she didn't have to sign it because her boyfriend had graduated! So ridiculous.
