What's the most cringeworthy approval seeking behavior you've ever seen?

An ex-friend of mine would make a big spectacle of her suicide attempt every time she breaks up with some guy.

All of her relationships are short lived because she can't stop her crazy from showing through and scaring off her boyfriends, and every time she breaks up with someone she would:

  1. Post on Facebook that life has no meaning anymore and she is depressed.
  2. Post on Facebook that she can't find a reason to live anymore so she might as well kill herself.
  3. Find a random 4-star hotel room.
  4. Call her brother, tell her brother which 4-star hotel she's in, and that she is totally going to kill herself right then and there, and don't bother calling the police.
  5. Call her best friend, tell her best friend where she is, and that she is totally going to kill herself. Goodbye cruel world, tell her boyfriend she loved him.

I saw this happen 6 times in the span of 5 years. Her brother is someone who freaks out at the slightest thing, so he would invariably call me in a panic and tell me that his sister is totally going to kill herself and this time she is totally serious and omg she is totally going to die what should he do?

Then, I'd roll my eyes, tell him to call the police and have her committed to an institution because she's clearly nuts, and that she's definitely not going to die from ingesting 20 Tylenols. He would proceed to freak out more, refuse to call the police, and drive to the hotel to "talk her out of killing herself." Magically, each time he manages to get there just as she's about to swallow her pills, even though he would spend 1 hour freaking out before he leaves to "save her life."

She would post "aftermath pictures" on Facebook about how she attempted suicide but her brother saved her, but life still sucks and she wishes she has never met her ex before.

Then, the cycle starts again.

I finally had to cut both her and her brother off because I just can't handle the crazy anymore.
